Having been a professional model for several years, Charlie had worn hundreds of wedding dresses. She also modelled our collection a couple of years ago so thats at least 40 she had tried on previously. What Charlie did know from the outset was that she would wear a Grace Philips dress for her own wedding.
Naturally tall and with a totally hourglass figure, Charlie is a designer’s dream. Such amazing proportions present their own challenges too. Choosing a dress off the rack was never going to be an option. Like every bride who comes to us for a couture wedding dress experience, Charlie’s dress was made to measure to fit like a dream
She knew she loved the Portia wedding gown. Portia is a glamorous and elegantly extravagant fishtail wedding dress. Strapless and with a detachable oversize bow and train, she’s a wedding dress that demands attention.
There are many fishtail wedding dresses in the Grace Philips collection. Similar styles to Portia are Evita, Tana and Saffron. All these dresses can be combined to create a unique wedding dress. Saffron even has a detachable train, similar to that on Portia
When you have a mikado dress that is a statement by itself, accessories must be subtle and balance the dress. Charlie chose to add a hand beaded belt to the waist to match the delicate beading across the bodice. This drew attention to her tiny waist and complemented the design perfectly. The finishing touch was provided by Nana Mooshki, a stunning tiered veil with a ribbon edge.
Your wedding dress is the most personal garment you will ever wear. At Charlie’s request, we made sure that we could include her grandfather’s blue handkerchief and his sixpence, ensuring that she had him with her all day, every step of the way.
