What should you expect on fittings day? It’s not as daunting as everyone thinks.
Once you have chosen your wedding dress, the next step is your measurements. Sometimes we see brides several years in advance so taking measurements when you have two years until the big day doesn’t make sense. We measure our brides around 6 months before their wedding day. We NEVER say to lose weight for your wedding but we know so many brides punish themselves and diet, so waiting for a few months allows you to reach your goals.
At your measurement appointment, you will need your shoes. First and foremost, you need your shoes. It doesn’t matter so much if you are having a a tea length dress but it’s always wise. It really does matter when you are having a long wedding dress though. If you are wearing a pair of 7 inch Louboutins (notoriously uncomfortable) then this can really affect the length of your dress.
If you are having a long dress, it can be a real help to wear a hooped underskirt. A full ballgown such as Candice or a fishtail gown such as Portia are so much easier to walk in when you wear a hoop. It doesn’t make the skirt huge, it simply allows your feet to move with ease and you will thank us for suggesting it when it gets to 10pm and you’ve been dancing all night.
Once your dress has arrived with us, it goes through 3 stages of quality control. Then we call you in for a fitting with Nana Mooshki. Almost as famous as our short tea length wedding dresses, Nana Mooshki has seen every bride over the years. If your dress needs tweaks she will advise what’s best. She also makes all our veils and headpieces so you can choose your wedding accessories at your first appointment too.
One of the most important things you will need is somebody who will be helping you to dress on your wedding day. Nana Mooshki always teaches you the correct way to put on your dress to make sure you are the most comfortable during the day. It may sound stupid but believe us, you will thank us for it later.
