Deborah is a Mooshki HQ favourite. A beautiful full A-Line full tulle skirt with delicate heavy lace falling from the waist. The bodice is covered in the same lace then gently easing on to the illusion neckline and short sleeves. The large expanse of sheer tulle at the back offers the ability to show their back but with a little coverage.

Classic in design from a bi-gone era where Dior ruled the catwalks this gown is reminiscent of days gone by when ladies were elegant and stylish.

This gown is calf length satin bodice and full circle skirt overlaid in a heavy guipure lace. The tight fitting bodice moves into delicate off the shoulder sleeves with flurries of lace laying on the skin.

A beautifully classic and elegant gown that would suit just about any bride. Vera has hidden structure on the inside to offer brides the best fit possible. The satin bodice and skirt is overlaid in layer upon layer of tulle and a delicate vintage spot tulle before having gorgeous lace hand crafted on to the bodice and scallop edging of the hem. The back detail is to die for with large sheer back with button fastening to give a vintage look with a modern twist.

Lou-Lou – Strapless A-line Tulle and Lace Gown

Mooshki’s Lou-Lou gown is a strapless A-line satin gown with tulle overlaid onto the skirt in sumptuous layers. The bodice is a heavy corded lace with a light shimmer beads and pearls for understated elegance.

Curtain Dress kafuffle … real bride story by Zara pink shoes !

This is her wedding dress journey ! …..

“So there I was, beginning to think about my wedding dress. I won’t pretend it was the first time. I’m sure every woman pictures how her dress will look even from being a little girl, doodling pictures of it on scrap bits of paper… (That wasn’t just me right?)

Only problem was, whenever I ‘doodled’ my dress it was always on a lady with a waist the size of a darning needle which my waist certainly is not.

I visited bridal shop after bridal shop and with each one came the same disappointing feeling. A choice of about five plus size dresses, all the same design but some with more bling than others.

I became more and more frustrated at the thought of just having to settle for a frock that quite frankly looked like someone had wrapped a bonny satin curtain around me.

So I decided my imaginary dress just wouldn’t work on my size 24 figure. That was that then, I couldn’t have what I wanted and I had to come to terms with that and I’d have to settle on a ‘curtain dress’.

Mooshki Madness

Then the day came when Mooshki came into my life with a BANG!

I attended bridal gathering at rainton meadows with my husband to be. We walked around the room which was filled with pretty things and the smell of cake. (I just love cake me!)

I noticed a stand at the back of the room with lots of models around it in the most fabulous wedding gowns. Wow!! ‘Those dresses are amazing, really different.’

A very friendly blonde woman in killer heels approached me and asked ‘Are you the bride?’My first thoughts were ‘Is she speaking to me? Those dresses are so not for a fat lass, so why is she asking?’ ‘Erm yes I am but I need to lose a load of weight before I find my dress’ I said. ‘Why?!!’ was her response. ‘Why? because the dress that I want would look ridiculous on me.’

And so the conversation continued. Vikki (The blonde woman ) chatted with me about how, if my dress was made especially for me then it would fit me perfectly and could be made to flatter my ‘figure’…….‘Really? …….So I could really have the dress I’ve always wanted and it won’t look like a curtain?’

I got the chance to sit down and speak with mooshki designer Olivia too who really showed an interest in what I was after and really made me feel like a bride should feel when talking about her dress.

I gave Vikki my contact details and left that place with the biggest smile on my face. Finally I could start to get excited about my frock!

Mooshki HQ

A few days while later I received an email from Vikki to invite me to go along and see her to chat about my dress…..Wow!!!! How exciting?

I took my mam and my maid of honour along with me to see Vikki at Mooshki headquarters where Vikki instantly became my best friend

I love that woman.

From the moment I started talking to her I could tell she knew exactly what she was talking about. I told her what I wanted and took along some pictures of the kind of thing I had in mind. She advised what she thought would look good and what wouldn’t.

Vikki never once made me feel ‘Fat’ or like I was asking for something unthinkable which was how the women in the bridal shops had previously made me feel. She told me to show off my best assets and how to flatter other areas without covering everything up and ending up with a ‘curtain.’ It was great to have found someone who really ‘got’ me.

My Doodle Dress

Now remember how I mentioned doodling my dream dress? Well this was still happening, only now it was real. I was doodling what my dress was actually going to look like.

About a week after visiting Vikki I received the designs of my dress from Olivia………..aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!

It was my doodle, only it was very professional and not drawn with a biro. But it was what I’d always dreamt it would be like and I got to see the material that was going to be used, how the corset would be put together, how many layers of dress net were going to be under the skirt etc etc!!!

I still had 18 months to go until my wedding day but knowing that my dress was going to be perfect made everything else seem effortless.

The next year and a half was fabulous, Vikki and I spoke regularly and I would send her the odd email ‘Can I change the skirt on my frock? I’ve bought the most amazing shoes and I need everyone to be able to see them.’ Vikki’s response was always ‘Sure, no problem. Come over, bring your slippers and we’ll have a cuppa.’ ‘Vikki I think I should scrap the idea of having a belt on my dress, do you think it will make me look bigger?’ ‘Actually I have been thinking about it and I think it may emphasise the parts we are trying to flatter.’ Such a way with words but honest too, exactly what I like.

I was getting married in May so Vikki took my measurements in March and told me my dress would be ready in approx four weeks. True to her word, there was the text message I had been waiting for ‘Your dress is here, want to come and try it?’ Oh my lord this was it, the time had come.

My My My Delilah !!!

With my mam and my maid of honour in tow I went to meet my frock (I later decided to name ‘Delilah’). Vikki introduced me to Nana Mooshki, (Who also became my new best mate ) Nana Mooshki who is amazingly talented and hilariously hilarious does all of mooshki’s alteration work.

I walked into the room where, there it was…….here come the tears. All that worry and stress about ‘Curtain-gate’ just disappeared. I put it on and instantly became a ballerina princess, it was perfect, it was me!

I stood and swished for 45 minutes while my mam and maid of honour said how pretty I looked. This must be how the queen feels when she gets a bonny new hat! Ecstatic! And guess what? I’d lost two inches since my measurements were taken! No problem though, Nana Mooshki got straight on the job.
I couldn’t believe how well it fit, it pulled me in in all the right places AND I didn’t have to wear a bra! This has never been known in all of my adult life ha!! I felt amazing.

Our Wedding Day

The madness was closed behind the door as my mam got me into my dress in the bedroom, the nerves were starting and the excitement blew through me. I stood and looked at myself in Delilah and thought…..By god he’s a lucky man haha!!

The bedroom door was opened and in piled all seven of my bridesmaids who cried as soon as they saw me. ‘You’re dress is amazing Zara’ ‘It’s so you!’

We got to the venue and the registrars came out to see me ‘Wow, Zara that is the most fantastic dress I’ve ever seen.’ How is that for a compliment?

My grandad held my hand as we nervously stood waiting to walk down the aisle. As we started to walk in I heard people saying ‘Aww wow.’ Now I don’t know if it’s just me but this was very surreal, I don’t think anyone has ever said ‘wow’ when I walked into a room before. The most amazing feeling though was seeing the look on my hubby’s face as he saw me. (Baring in mind the previous 18 months had been spent winding him up that my dress was pink with flashy lights and covered in dolly mixtures) He said ‘Your dress is amazing, you look fantastic!’

The whole day was spent talking about my dress as well as the marriage and stuff but mostly about the dress. People said that it was just ‘me’ and how much it flattered my shape.

I had the most amazing day and felt fantastic, the exact way any bride should feel. No matter what shape or size you are don’t just settle for something if it isn’t what you’ve always dreamt of. Don’t cover everything up, if you’ve got them flaunt them I say!

Thank you To Vikki, Olivia and Nana Mooshki for making my dreams come true. You’ve made this jolly fat lass even happier.

Known as the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” gown in Mooshki HQ, this simple satin sleeveless column gown. The dress has a fixed sash and covered button detail to the back. Also comes as a 3 in 1 gown to allow our brides to change their looks as their day progresses.
The day can start with attaching the full tulle skirt offering a princess look to the dress for the ceremony. This can then be removed and a detachable tulle train worn to allow a little more freedom of movement around your reception.

Anna -1950′s inspired tea length short vintage spot tulle wedding dress with circle skirt and sleeves

A 1950′s inspired wedding dress which is tea length with a full satin circle skirt for volume. The dress is overlaid with a vintage spot tulle to the skirt and bodice which has a sweetheart neckline.

The dress has an illusion neckline with a boat neck detail and elbow length fitted sleeves. The edges of the sleeves and neck are trimmed in fresh water pearls to add a more vintage tone to the dress. It is shown here with a black sash but this can be made in any colour to suit the brides wedding.

Being a 5ft 1in size 16/18 bride with humongous 36GG boobs I always knew that I was going to struggle to find a wedding dress that flattered my figure. I didn’t want a gown that was going to make me look wider than I am tall and I certainly wasn’t interested in a strapless gown. I’d worn them before and spent most of the time with pulling them up, worrying about back fat rolls and generally being uncomfortable so knew that I wasn’t going to stand for this on my wedding day. I wanted to be comfortable, as all brides should be. After visiting a couple of bridal shops in my local area it did become apparent that the only option for a ‘bigger’ lady was the dreaded strapless gown I wanted to avoid. I also have issues with the tops of my arms and have a huge tattoo on my back that I love but I felt like it should be covered for my wedding day, I wished to be a demure bride (until I opened my mouth that is!) The solution for this seemed to be teaming a strapless dress with a separate bolero style cover up which I didn’t care for much as, at the end of the day, it was still going to be an uncomfortable strapless dress.

After a horrid ‘Pretty Woman’ experience in one of “Yorkshire’s most respected bridal retailers” where “the team are very experienced and offer and exceptional shopping experience” (according to their website that is – I beg to differ) where I was looked down upon after asking to see the gorgeous lace Elie Saab dress that I had gone in to view I vowed never to step foot in a bridal shop again. I was told to have an open mind and was given a shocking grey, yes GREY, A-line shiny cheap looking strapless dress, I wouldn’t even call it a gown, to try on which the assistants all cooed over. I vowed not to go back to any bridal shop as they clearly didn’t know what they were talking about. In my head I visioned a beautiful lace long sleeved gown with a fitted bodice and button up back (before Middleton got her dirty mits on one might I add!) but where on earth was I to find such a dress in a town that seemed to have a very backwards view on anything bridal?!

Then came Mooshki! I discovered House of Mooshki on the Love My Dress blog, emailed the lovely Vikki and travelled from East Yorkshire to County Durham that very same weekend. Within a couple of hours (that’s all it took as I was quite an easy bride to please) my design was done and dusted, most fabrics picked and I left a very happy bride to be with the reassurance that as a curvier bride I COULD wear what I wanted on my wedding day and not have to go with a dress I didn’t like just because some snotty sales assistant said that’s what ladies of my size SHOULD wear.

For any bride in this predicament I would fully recommend seeing a dressmaker as opposed to looking in the shops. Dressmakers are experts at what they do and they know how to flaunt your curves and make you look fabulous! One of my main worries was not being able to wear a bra with any wedding dress that I picked but I was reassured by Vikki at Mooshki numerous times that with my dress I wouldn’t need one. I was still quite dubious about this and for my final fitting I spent a fortune on a selection of strapless bras but it turned out that Vikki was right, I didn’t need one and my boobs looked fab! My waist was pulled in inside the beautiful structured bodice and the tulle skirt skimmed my (big) bum giving me the perfect hourglass figure – I felt a million dollars. Gok Wan would’ve been proud!

Moral of my Mooshki story – from one curvy bride to another, please don’t feel the need to cover up or to hide your body on your wedding day. I wanted to lose 4 stone for my wedding as I was worried about how I would look in my dress but I actually ended up putting weight on in the run up to my big day. This didn’t matter as Vikki and I had designed a dress that fit my body perfectly. If you have the beautiful dress that YOU want and it fits your figure and compliments you where it should, you will look amazing and feel like the princess that you should on the most important day of yours and your husband to be’s lives!

There is so much to talk about this month its hard to squeeze it all in ! This month we are featuring one of our brides from the summer Andrea and her bridesmaids, offering you FREE hair and make up trials and also the chance to win a dream honeymoon and star on TV !
So, to our Real Bride Feature….Andrea came to visit us way back when and was very specific about what she wanted. She is a solicitor and used to being in control of every tiny detail. She had tried on so many dresses and had never found one that hit the mark. We knew her dress was going to look spectacular after our initial discussion.

“I found Mooshki via a friend who works in the wedding industry who highly recommended them.
I had real trouble trying to find the perfect dress off the peg and after trying 45 dresses and 12 bridal shops over 9 months I knew the only way to get exactly what I dreamed of would be to have my bespoke dress personally designed and created to my brief.”

“The process of designing the dress was amazing, seeing sketches evolve and having the control to make changes to ensure I got exactly what I wanted was perfect. Choosing the materials was really fun and although the anticipation of waiting for it to be made and seeing the finished article was stressful, it was worth every minute when it arrived.”

“I don’t think the team at Mooshki could have done any more to make my experience any more special. They were practically on call 24/7 during the design process and once the dress arrived I was welcome at all times of day or night for fittings. Overall the whole process seemed to be just as important to them as it was to me and that’s what makes for excellent service.”

Andrea and her 4 bridesmaids were fabulous although when they were all in together for fittings it made for quite a party at Mooshki HQ thats for sure.
Her gown was a satin dress with a gorgeous custom made lace overlay, slightly padded shoulders and lightly beaded with pearls.
Her bridesmaids gowns were an adaptation of our sage green wedding dress and they were made in deep purple which was the main colour of the wedding. It made for a fabulous contrast and each of the girls looked amazing. The dress suited every shape of the different bridesmaids and it now is one of our favourite dresses.
We wish Andrea and her husband all the happiness in the world and thought you looked amazing on the day.

We have had such a surge for appointments coming from brides in the South East and London area recently, so much so that we have finally managed to squeeze in some designer days for those who cannot make it to us for a consultation in the North East.

FREE Bridal Hair and Make Up Trial

Every bride needs hair and make up for their wedding day however most don’t get to see their completed look until the actual wedding day. This can lead to some last minute disasters and alterations needed if the look you are going for doesn’t quite work with your dress.
Here at Mooshki, we try to alleviate those issues before they even have a chance to happen. Having our very own in-house stylist, Lisa Jones is able to work with our brides from day 1 to help create the look they are trying to achieve for their big day. All you need to do is turn up to your trial with ideas of what you want to look like.

We have set aside a few days purely for your FREE BRIDAL HAIR AND MAKE UP TRIAL. The dates are below and it is on a first come first served basis.

Hi Vikki,

I would like to commend you for your professional way of dealing with brides, particularly me. As expected, I was very nervous and agitated about my dress, but you completely blew my mind away with your kindness and polite nature, someone seeing us chat would think that we were old friends.

The whole step of choosing a dress, offering your kind pieces of advise through to the dress delivery were indeed remarkable. I am usually hard to please, but I found that I could not find a single fault with the dress especially when the timeline was short. The dress turned out absolutely gorgeous, more than I even expected and the price was affordable.

The dress and cape are beyond what I could have imagined and I have a VERY fertile imagination. I’m amazed. I’m stunned. I’m beyond happy and I’m very VERY grateful to you and Olivia and Kathryn. I know it sounds quite cheesy and cliché and you’ve heard it before, but you really do make people’s dreams come true. I’ve told you before that because of who I am the dress finding and trying on was something I was dreading. It’s supposed to be the best part for a bride isn’t it? I was quite convinced that I was never going to find anything that was going to be ME.

I was convinced that I would have to settle for something that wasn’t really going to be MY perfect wedding dress. I was right. I wasn’t ever going to find it. It didn’t exist. Thanks to you I didn’t find it but had it created for me. How am I ever supposed to make sure that you know exactly what you’ve done for me? You’ve given me exactly what I never thought possible and what I always should have had…the perfect dress for me, in every way. It’s stunning. It’s me. It’s worth every penny and nobody else on this planet is going to have it.

Nicola was an amazing bride. She tracked us down one cold and dreary Sunday afternoon to a wedding fayre at Wynyard Hall. Amongst a sea of people I looked up and she was standing in amongst the crowd…we could not take our eyes off her. She was dress head to toe in compelte 60′s. Everything from the clothes, shoes, hair and makeup.

She had found us through making the dress for Victoria Thornton in London and came with very specific ideas of how she wanted to look. At first she had enough ideas to make 15 dresses and we whittled it down. The brief was specific horror hammer / swedish milk maid mixed with moroccan, indian and celtic embroidery to the dress and cape. We collaberated with the fabulous Kathryn Russell for the embroidery work as she truly is a master. She hand made the lace trim in authentic metalic 60′s thread and even tracked down vintage 60′s beads to add into the mix.

Her email below describes her moment on first seeing her dress photos which are features now on our site.

We first came across Claire as she was one of our competition winner where she won a dress through a competition on Love My Dress.

She met with our designer Olivia in London to talk through the finer details of her ideal gown. In Claire’s own words…

“The dress was bold but simple, with some delicate touches – and seeing the pictures, I realised that white is also a colour! So bright, beautiful. It was a white/ ivory gown made of duchess satin. There was lace around the V-front and V-back (which as you’ll see in the pics, was often caught in the breeze!) and a beautiful back made of tiers of lace, topped with a brooch.

However, the dress played a part in a much bigger day, which was just one of the wonderful things I ever hope to experience. It was simple and honest and us. I can’t express how grateful I was to win this amazing amazing gift.

Susan’s dress for me is one to the cutest dresses we have made. Susan met with our designer Olivia Wright in London. Susan had left it until the last minute to find a dress and only had 3 months to find her dream gown.

She had seen our short ostrich feather dress and had taken inspiration from that to create her own vision. Susan was married in New Zealand last Christmas and wow did she look stunning.

‘I’d been wedding dress shopping a few times and nothing was standing out to me. I knew I didn’t want a long dress but there seemed to be nothing else available or nothing right for me in the shops.

It wasn’t until I went to meet my photographer Helen Russell, that I saw the dress I had had been dreaming of. She had recently been involved in a photo shoot for Mooshki and had a picture of their designer Olivia wearing the signature Ostrich feather dress.

This was my dress !!! …. It was the perfect length and the feathers and underskirt made it exactly the style I’d been searching for.

She told me that it was by a company who made bespoke dresses and my heart sank as I thought there was no way that I could get a bespoke dress with my budget, but when she told me the prices started at £800 so I thought I’d get in touch.

I emailed Vikki and she was in touch straight away with an appointment for me to go for a consultation and the kind of things she’d want to talk about. I got a few images from magazines and the internet of dresses I liked and went along.

We talked for ages about what I wanted-I literally could have had anything. Olivia would draw the sketches based on Vikki’s notes and the dream dress would be mine. I loved the Ostrich feather dress though and luckily Vikki had it hanging up-so I tried it on!

We decided to change a few details so it was more suited to my shape and the sketches were emailed to me in a few days. It was so easy. I got the perfect dress and it was less than I would pay in any shop!

I was so impressed with the service that I advised a friend of mine to give it a go. She has her wedding next year and I can’t wait to see what her dress looks like!

My Mam even decided to have her Mother of the Bride dress made. She wore the most stunning King Fisher Blue dress and got loads of compliments. Again, we’d been shopping for her and could find nothing that was right. She got a dress that fit her perfectly, was exactly what she wanted and was far less than anything she’d seen in a store.

When my dress arrived, Vikki and her Mum, Nana Mooshki went to every effort to make sure the finished item was perfect.

Nadia was a wonderful bride although we met in the worst of circumstances. Her previous dress designer had let her down 6 weeks before the wedding … Here is her story written by Nadia…our desperate bride of the summer.

I first came across Nadia when I received a frantic telephone call from her sister in late June when she had been seriously let down by her wedding dress designer. The following day, I received another telephone call from her even more frantic fiance who was trying to describe a dress that Nadia was looking for. To get some sense out of the situation I said..” please, just get Nadia to contact me herself !! Then at least we can get a true understanding of what she is looking for and we will try our best to help her.

”

It was 6 weeks before my wedding and the dress maker I had been working with had let me down badly. I didn’t even have any material! I was in denial that I was without a dress with so little time left.

Luckily my fiance and sister took the lead and both of them started researching wedding dress makers and found the House of Mooshki website and made inquiries on my behalf.

When I finally pulled myself together I got in touch with Vicky at House of Mooshki who was lovely- so understanding of my situation. She was very accommodating and agreed to meet me the following Sunday with a selection of dresses for me to try so she could begin making me a dress straight away.

I couldn’t believe it when she said that at a push they could make a dress for me within 6 weeks- most places take months! Luck was on my side that Sunday as Vikki brought my favourite House of Mooshki dress I’d seen on their website which happened to fit me perfectly.

After trying on different gowns, I kept returning to the swan lake inspired dress time after time and Vikki agreed to sell me the original dress so I didn’t even need to get a one made in the end as time was not our friend.

It had only ever been worn by the model and designer Olivia in the Mooshki photoshoot and was brand new. I’d always wanted a unique, one-off wedding dress and this was the only dress of that design which had been made so I still got my wish!

What a fabulous sight Kerry was when she first knocked on the door of Mooshki HQ. Tall, statuesque figure that was just screaming out FISHTAIL GOWN !!

As we discussed her ideal gown..I was so pleased to hear that she was going with the fishtail / mermaid style that would so suit her frame and body structure. She opted for a pleated fishtail gown in a heavy ivory satin with a design twist to the shoulder. This feature was built to hide a tattoo she had in the centre of her back.

You have to admit she looks super stunning in her dress and had the most fantastic day. Her hair and make up was also done by our in house stylist Lisa Jones.

It was a cold and gloomy day last November when Gemma came bouncing into our lives. She was marrying Dean and they were eloping to South Africa to be married ! The holiday they had planned was only 3 weeks away and she did not have a wedding dress.

She contacted us one crazy afternoon and quickly described the kind of dress she was after down the phone. She was breathless, high as a kite and nervous all rolled into one. Everywhere she had tried could not help her. We soon had our designer Olivia Wright designing feverishly to get this perfect dress done for Gemma quick sharp. Our manufacturing team were on standby to turn the dress around in less than 2 weeks which is not an easy task when you are making a dress from scratch.

Ok, the day went like this. Victoria had put out a plea to a very good friend of mine Annabel Beeforth from love my dress blog . Of course, here at House of Mooshki, last minute brides are one of our specialisms. We answered Annabel with haste to not waste any time who quickly sent us Victoria’s details. We quickly wrote off to Victoria as each passing minute is essential design and development time.

The very next Victoria contacted us…only problem was…House of Mooshki were on location on a photo shoot at the gorgeous grounds of Lambton Castle in County Durham. Sat on a soggy piece of grass with extraordinary views over the castle grounds Victoria and I had a very rushed 10 minute consultation over the telephone between dress changes. The brief was actually quite simple. Victoria had in her head that her ideal dress was a 1960′s plain shift dress with an inbuilt lace overcoat.

Victoria has searched most of London’s vintage shops but not being the same shape as most women were in the 60′s was struggling to get one that fit which is disheartening when all you want is to have the dress of your dreams for your big day. That discussion took place at around 12.30pm on the 18th August !

We jumped straight into action, between takes as our head designer Olivia Wright is also the model and face of House of Mooshki…we sat…we discussed…

Olivia was also on a train by to London herself at 7pm that evening……. She had sat on the train and developed the sketches which turned out to be Victoria’s ideal dress ! We had taken all the key elements that Victoria had wanted in her dress but also offered a few modern day touches like a built in corset and also made the dress from a bridal satin to give it a more wedding feel. By midnight they were in my dropbox ….by 7am the following day we had emailed the designs to Victoria. I think she was at this point a tiny bit thrilled that we had managed from a 10 minute phone call been able to see her dress exactly how she had wanted it to be and developed.

Our fabulous manufacturer Alex wasted no time in putting the dress into production…even before any payments had been authorised. What can I say the rest is history. By mid September the dress had not only been designed but actually delivered to the bride who was over the moon that finally her dream wedding dress had arrived and fit her perfectly. She could now relax in time for her day.

Laura is a dream bride for any company to work with and was an utter pleasure from start to finish. My Mooshki Story…….So Far

It was a wet miserable morning but I jumped out of bed with excitement. My first wedding fayre as a real life bride. We had not long set the date of our wedding and the excitement was taking over me, I became similar to a hyperactive child.

Johnny, my hubby to be forced himself to get ready as he really wasn’t excited at the prospect of me running around with brochures, leaflets and cakes samples hanging from my mits. But he came along with a smile never the less.

When we arrived at Bridal Gathering, I could see stalls of sparkly things, flowers, dresses, dresses, dresses. I couldn’t wait to have a look around.

The first stand that really grabbed my eye from walking in the door was what looked to me to be very expensive. I thought to myself ‘let’s by pass that one….looks a bit out of my budget’ But as I walked past I couldn’t help but stare in amazement at the dresses that the models were wearing…..I had never seen a wedding dress like that. How different….JUST WHAT I WANT!

So I was introduced to Olivia Wright, the designer for Mooshki. Wow, as soon as I started to tell her my ideas she knew exactly what I wanted, her passion for what she does shone through and I could tell I could trust my wedding dress in her hands.

After the wedding fayre I told everyone who came into contact with me that I had found my dress maker. And before long Vikki from Mooshki was in touch.

I went along to see Vikki, with my mam and my maid of honour and we got cracking with the ideas of what my ideal dress would be like. Vikki told me that she would give my ideas to Olivia and see what she could come up with and email me with the designs. And there, when my emails were next opened, was my dress….MY DRESS! Like nothing I have seen before….Mine, and as beautiful as I had always imagined.

As I would like to decrease in size, width wise, Mooshki will not be taking my measurements until next year but I am one happy Bridezilla knowing that my dress is going to be just perfect.

Dress of the Month

This has to be one of the most stunning gowns we have ever designed. I fell in love with this dress the moment it was complete. Truly magnificent dress with an out of this world 4 meter long train … just to add a touch of drama. This dress has become a firm favourite with some of our brides who all have amended it slightly to give it their own individual twist. Some by adding roses to the bodice, some removing them completely and some brides even ordering it in black.

The dress has a tight fitted bodice with a ruffle across the arms to give an off the shoulder detail. The back of the bodice sees a lace up detail which adds to the “Gone with The Wind” look. The skirt is made up of 3 layers of taffeta leading into that magnificent train. We have a pleated tulle detailing at the front of the dress underneath the pick ups highlighted with handmade taffeta roses.

A dress worthy of any castle surroundings to give a true princess style wedding. Remember, all of our dresses can be amended to suit your individual requirements and we never make the same dress twice. You will be walking down the aisle in a truly unique couture gown designed specifically for you.

This dress is divine. Simply the most classic of dresses yet with a modern twist. The dress has a satin bodice and skirt with a tulle overlay. The bodice has a sweetheart neckline with tulle and lace appliqué. The tulle then follows up to the neckline where more lace is appliquéd to the dress and across the shoulders leading into long sleeves. The cuffs of the sheer tulle sleeves have matching lace appliqué.

This is one of our favourite dresses. Cool and funky short wedding gown which is perfect for a young bride or a city wedding with FUN being the main factor of the day.

A white satin bodice with a sweetheart neckline design to compliment any figure. Has a tulle pin tuck overlay with a few swarovski crystals scattered across the top of the bodice. The skirt is a mixture of layers of white taffeta and while tulle in alternate layers to create a tutu effect. The rear of the dress has a lace up detail.

Stunning vintage inspired short wedding gown which would be fabulous for a garden fete style wedding.

The dress consists of a satin dress made from ivory silk bridal satin. The bodice has a vintage lace overlay with off the shoulder detail moving into 3/4 length sleeves. The lace has a light scattering of small clear crystal beads and sequins to allow for a light shimmer and to catch the light as you move. Simple ivory fishtail gown. The bodice is pleated from the bust to the knee to enhance your shape. Bridal Gathering Wedding Fair

And so our first big wedding fair was upon us last weekend. We were proud to say we were sponsors at the Bridal Gathering held at Rainton Meadows arena ran by Belle Bridal Magazine and Anorak Events The planning started months ago with a few new mermaid style white ostrich feather bridal gown being unveiled at the event which was an eye catcher indeed and drew a few heads on the day.

We decided to be a little different from the norm by having all our dresses in live mannequins so we had our very own model search…and what fantastic beauties applied too. All the girls turned up on the day fresh faced with curlers in their hair…even me and Olivia (pictures of which can be seen on facebook). Not the most glamourous look in the world but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do !

Backstage was mayhem. Our make up artist Lisa Jones had her work cut out that morning. 7 models, 2 small bridesmaids, 3 stand staff all to look gorgeous before 12pm. She worked absolutely wonders and the models truly stood out amongst the crowd. We drew in the crowds and at one point felt quite mobbed.

The stand looked amazing and Ian my beloved from Rufus designed the stand for me with fantastic pop up banners covered in some of our best photography from Red Boat Photography and Helen Russell. The compliments were coming thick and fast which was a relief I must say when you are the new guy on the block. We even had a visit from the very gorgeous Annabel from lovemydress who I must say is just simply stunning.

Wanting to be a little different brides had the opportunity to have their dress designed on the day by our head designer Olivia Wright. She did a fantastic job and I know a few brides actually took the opportunity to develop the dream gown.

The day was a huge success with everyone working exceptionally hard. The girls looked amazing in our gowns and Kathryn Russell headpieces (please contact us for details of those).
